OxBlogger.com is a blogging network, driven by Wordpress, allowing users to get a blog, and start writing for free. As well as blogs, our site is a fully-functional social network, allowing OxBloggers to communicate, collaborate, and ultimately share their passion for blogging.
Why did OxBlogger.com start?
Our idea came from the frustration of starting a blog on the Wordpress.com website. Blogging wasn’t a problem - as you’ll see from OxBlogger.com, the Wordpress framework is incredibly user-friendly. The real issue was how to attract readers to the blog. By creating a blogging network, our bloggers will avoid many of the teething problems that new blogs face, ultimately making the blogging experience more enjoyable and rewarding.
What’s in a name - why OxBlogger.com?
We’re based in Oxford, and we think its important to keep some local/university identity. Many university students shared our frustrations with beginning a blog, and we think that the university lifestyle is ideal for starting your blogging career.

Blogging is a great way to share ideas, but too often the best ideas aren’t heard. By creating OxBlogger.com, bloggers who are part of our thriving network need not worry about attracting readers, or being “found” by Google or Yahoo! - in essence our strength is in numbers and sharing a common vision.
In other words, we worry about the geeky side of things, you worry about the content.

We want to provide the best free blogging platform, and we’re going to do this by listening to our bloggers and help them to achieve their aims. Our vision is to let people blog with the minimum of hassle and restriction, but we have to compromise a little. OxBlogger.com is paid for by advertising, which currently appears in the following places:
- OxBlogger.com pages
- OxBlogger.com FeedBurner feeds
- After the first and second posts in each user’s blog homepage
- On user single post pages, between the post and comments sections
